About Courtney
Courtney
Cochran is a certified sommelier, entrepreneur and author operating
forward-thinking business Your Personal Sommelier™ in San Francisco,
California. Besides penning the Hip Tastes blog, she is the author
of the book Hip Tastes:
The Fresh Guide to Wine, a breezy and informative guide to wine
published October 4, 2007 by Viking Studio, an imprint of Penguin Group
USA. The book was named the 2007 Georges Duboeuf Wine Book of the Year,
and the San Francisco Chronicle says owning it is like having “a
sommelier in your pocket.”
Courtney has been profiled in Haute
Living, Vogue, Business Week, C Magazine (“San
Francisco’s
Most Wanted Wine Guru,” May 2007), Domino and Daily
Candy and
appeared on numerous television and radio networks including ABC, NBC,
Fox, NPR and Martha Stewart Living Radio. She is the lead columnist
for WineCountry.com, a popular online wine travel resource, and her
work has also appeared in Maxim, among other publications.
She holds
her sommelier certification from the American Court of Master Sommeliers,
a sommelier diploma from the International Sommelier Guild and an MBA
from the UCLA Anderson School of Management. When she’s not working,
Courtney likes to golf, travel, rummage through flea markets and vintage
boutiques, kibitz with friends over long lunches, and…of course…drink
lots of ridiculously good wine. Cheers to that.
