Checking In from the Alexander Valley

I'm checking in (I know, at long last!) from this beautiful slice of northern Sonoma County where I've been spending some really nice QT with my fam over Thanksgiving. The sun setting on the Mayacamas is breathtaking, and I'm so thrilled to have been able to spend a few fantastic days relaxing in all this splendor after nearly two months of just about non-stop book touring.

We've hit up a number of my fav Sonoma spots during the visit - Barndiva and its fab new next-door store, Artists and Farmers, the candy store at the northeast corner of the plaza in Healdsburg where you feel like a kid every time you step inside, and Medlock Ames for some organic veggies and delicious wine.

But really, the most amazing part of the trip has been taking in the vines and landscape in the Alexander Valley in all its fall splendor. It's absolutely breathtaking, and after a few days here I feel almost restored from all the hectic traveling I've been doing! There's just something about wine country in the fall. Can't wait to see it again next year.
